Radio Bulgaria to leave shortwave on 1 February

Bulgarian National Radio is taking additional measures to cope with reductions in its budget. In 2011, the organisation closed correspondents’ posts in Skopje, Belgrade, Bucharest and Berlin. It also cut some mediumwave broadcasts.

Now comes the news that the foreign service, Radio Bulgaria, is also about to make cuts.Programmes in 10 Balkan and European languages will be transferred from shortwave tothe internet as from 1 February 2012, according to information in Bulgarian on the station’s website.

Radio Miami International, in cooperation with its client Radio Republica, will be conducting a special DX test at 2000-2100 UTC and 2300-2400 UTC on 7 January, and 0200-0300 UTC on 8 January, 2012 on the frequency of 5954 kHz from Cariari, Costa Rica.  (These times are 3-4 pm, 6-7 pm and 9-10 pm Eastern Time Saturday, 7 January in North America.)  The programming aired will be Radio Republica in Spanish.  The power will be 10 kW.

 
Shortwave listeners may be aware of the fact that Radio Republica has used this frequency in the past, but it has been off the air for several weeks now. Radio Miami International will verify all reception reports with a QSL card indicating the special tests.  Reports may be sent to Radio Miami International, P.O. Very bad propagation from America at night

Last several nights there was very bad propagation from America. The loudest station heard was 6090 Caribbean Beacon, on 9 and 11 MHz signals were very bad. Audible are 9675 Cancao Nova, 11710 RAE and several others. The surprise for me was 4840 WWCR with a nice signal. Hope propagation would be better later...
Interesting that in daytime propagation from America is very good on HF (like 21600 WHRI, 15825 WWCR and others).

Tonight logs will be posted a bit later! Many interesting stations from Asia and not only received.

Again about MVBR, RGI and EMR in 2012

So, yesterday I published such info on my blog:

Due to Technical reasons the last transmission from MVBR on 6140 KHz will be on

the 25th of December 2011.  MVBR on 9480 KHz will continue in 2012 as normal.

Today I asked in dxld yahoo groop is anybody knows any more info on this matter.

Tom has replied to me as follows:

 "Yes, MVBR and EMR via 1 KW. Radio Gloria via 1KW and Radio

700 on 6005 khz. There maybe extra low power relays added in 2012."

"EMR will Transmit every 3rd Sunday in 2012 on 9480, with a
repeat on the 4th Sunday. We may do 2 hour programmes from time to
time."

So you can see that these stations again become DX for non-Europeans (here I receive 1kW 9480 well).

Хотелось бы напомнить о сущестовании рубрики "Вещая поверх границ" в
рамках "Портала о странах и народах мира", которую ведёт Максим
Истомин. Рубрика посвящена истории иновещания, пропагандистских
баталиях в эфире, прошлом и настоящем трансляций различных стран мира
на Россию и СССР, современном многоязычном некоммерческом спутниковом
и Интернет-вещании. Выпуски сопровождаются интересными фото- и
аудиоматериалами.

Имхо, ничего подобного в рунете на данный момент не существует.

Maybe, all of you know that tomorrow (30.10) the B-11 season starts. 

You can find the Aoki B-11 xlsx file here: http://www.m2.mediacat.ne.jp/~binews/bib11.zip

Info there isn't fully new, there are many A-11 schedules and also there are many mistakes. For example, they deleted ITU "ATN" and all broadcasts from Bonaire wrote under ITU "HOL". Also there is schedule of new station from Madagascar (built by KNLS), but this station is to open in Feb-Mar 2012. So, be careful using this schedule!

Reminder: do not forget to push your clock an hour earlier (if your country has summer/winter times).

Some bad news: today there were last broadcasts from tx sites Sines (POR), Trincomalee (CLN), Rampisham (G) and Mon Agel (MCO). (info from Alexander Diadischev from open-dx yg)

I hope in B-11 wouldn't be so many closures of radio stations and transmitter sites...

So, I wish you a good season, lot of DX and lot of QSLs!

Special broadcast by Radio Caroline International is expected this weekend!

Radio Caroline International plans broadcast from southeast part of Poland on Friday, 28 October at 20:00 UTC. Also on Saturday at probably 19:00 UTC. Frequency would be 6375 or 6550 kHz. Power - 100 Watts output. Time of transmission - 2 hours in Friday and 3 hours in Saturday!

Radio Okapi changed realy site

CONGO (non). R. Okapi noted with good signal and full ID on new 
11675kHz in French from tune-in at 1613 on 23 October. Not listed in 
either AOKI or EiBi, but HFCC has a Babcock entry showing a broadcast 
via Al-Dhabbiya from 1600-1700 since 1 Oct.
